The 23rd Dream: A Novel (Southwest Life and Letters)
Published in Hardcover by Southern Methodist Univ Pr (November, 1993)
Average review score:

A wonderful story about living and dying.I loved this story...it is set where I live in South Texas and where the author grew up...The charting of the last year of a dying man might seem gruesome, and yet, I finished the book with a greater understanding of what living is all about, and how Adam and his family came to be at peace in the calm of the beautiful Rio Grande Valley. This unsentimental story I found hard to put down until I finished it.

31 By Lawrence Clayton
Published in Hardcover by McWhiney Foundation Pr (August, 2002)
Average review score:

Local Interest31 is a collection of stories by Lawrence Clayton. Clayton, author of many books about ranches in Texas, tells his favorite stories about ranches and cowboys in the West Texas area, particularly in Shackleford and Throckmorton counties. It is a good collection, particularly to those who are interested in the history of Albany, Texas, and the cowboy culture that still exists there.

The 90th Division in World War I: The Texas-Oklahoma Draft Division in the Great War
Published in Paperback by Sunflower University Press (December, 2000)
Average review score:

Excellent divisional history. The 90th Division, largely composed of draftees from Texas and Oklahoma, was at least as good as the 36th Division (from the same area), but never enjoyed the prestige of the more famous Arrowheads.
White very effectively balances the historical record in this admirably researched and well-written history of the 90th, from its inception to demobilization in 1919. Organization, training, personalities, combat narrative, and occupation duties are all very well covered, with photos, maps, notes, bibliography, and Ms. Daniel's exemplary Index. Every division should have a history of this quality.

Acting With an Accent Texas
Published in Audio Cassette by Meriwether Pub (June, 1988)
Average review score:

Former student of David Allen Stern raves about his work:Being a former student of David's, I have used many of his Acting with an Accent packages. They are easy to understand. The exercises are broken into managable parts, and the concepts are retainable for the long term. Using the tapes are almost as good as having David there in person!

Adams Vs Texas
Published in Hardcover by World Publications (January, 1920)
Average review score:

An amazingly true storyPassing through a law and order phase in my reading life i came across Adams Vs. Texas and have to say it was amazing. Adams Vs. Texas is the story of a semi-drifter who, a victim of circumstances, was charged with the murder he didn't do of a man he didn't know and as a result comes up against the State of Texas as a murderer and faces death in the electric chair. His contact with investagators, lawyers, judges, wardens, other convicts, the press, a painfully deluded prosecutor, and the real criminal of the case are combined to make a powerfully compelling story, spaning over twelve years of trial, imprisionment, hardship and finally, triumph. In the midst of this ugly line of events Adams belives that God has him where he is for a porpose and in the end that is true, but it's sad one man had to make such a sacrifice and wonderful that he was able to.
The fact that the events in this book really happened to a man is incredable, but they are presented in such and honest, down-to-earth manner that makes it a real tribute to the man who both went through this expierence and survived, both physically and mentally to tell his story. Wherever you are, Randall Dale Adams, I'm sorry they did that to you and you deserve all the happiness in the world. As for the rest of you--go read Adams Vs. Texas and remember another, much larger, sacrifice made for you over 2,000 years ago and accept and cherish His gift to you: Life--forever
